What This Process Does

  • This process is specific to customers that use RDA's Employee Self Serve (ESS).
  • It is used to upload into ESS any changes that were made to OpenRDA Deduction Description Masters; this includes new Deduction Descriptions that were created, and any changes made to existing Deduction Descriptions.


Best Practices

  • It is not necessary to run this process each time a new Deduction Description is added, or each time a change is made to a Deduction Description; is recommended that it be run on a reasonably timely basis, to capture all updates that were made as of the most current payroll.


Update Deduction Description Table in Open Self Serve

  1. HR → Payroll → Maintenance → Open Self Serve → Upload Benefits → Upload Deduction Descriptions to PIM
  2. Under normal circumstances, this process should be run without ranging, in order to capture all new Deduction Descriptions, and all changes made to existing Deduction Descriptions; however, range criteria are available in the event that you want to upload specific new/changed deductions.
  3. Click the Write to Database button (cog).
  4. The system will search for new/changed records, and upload them automatically; no report will generate, and flags do not have to be set.
  5. A No Records error may indicate inaccurate range criteria, or that there are no new or changed Deduction Descriptions to upload to ESS.
