Define Leave Types

What This Process Does
- Sets up Leave Types in order to group Leave Description Identifications by Type.
- Designates unit (day or hour) for Leave Descriptions associated with the Leave Type; Day or Hour appears on the Payroll Total Compensation Statement.
- Determines whether the Leave Type will appear on the Total Compensation Statement.
- Allows to set the incremental value when adding leave used; required for organizations using ESS (Employee Self Serve) Leave.
Setup Leave Types
- HR → Leave Management → Setup → Leave Types
- Click on the Add + to add a new Leave Type.
- When all fields are populated click on Save.

Incremental Value | — | — | ♦ | If Incremental Units is set to true, field is required to select the increment in which leave can be requested. Ex.If quarter day or 15 minutes is selected, units can be requested as little as .25 or 15 minutes. If one day or one hour is selected, employees cannot request less than one day or one hour of leave.- If Unit Description is DAY:
- QUARTER DAY (.25 units)
- HALF DAY(.5 units)
- THREE QUARTER DAY(.75 units)
- ONE DAY(1.00 units)
- If Unit Description is HOUR:
- 15 MINUTES (.25 units)
- 30 MINUTES (.5 units)
- 45 MINUTES (.75 units)
- ONE HOUR (1.00 units)

Edit Leave Types
- HR → Leave Management → Setup → Leave Types
- Click on Leave Type and click on Select.
- Make changes to necessary fields and click on Save.
- If adding Incremental Units:
- Check the boolean Incremental Units
- Use the drop down to choose Unit Description even if choosing the same one and click on Save
- Select Leave Type again, select Incremental Value and click on Save
