You must create 1 Exemption Configuration for each Class that you would like to use the new Exemption for.


go to the Configuration Dashboard

click Exemption Configurations

set the Tax Year dropdown to the year in which you would like to create the new Exemption. (You only have to create the Exemption Configuration in a single Tax Year, then it can be rolled into the subsequent years).

click Add in the TV

check the Active box

fill in the Description (ex: VETERAN CLASS 1)

select the desired ExemptionType

select the desired Billable Type

select the desired Tax Year

select the desired Tax configuration

click Add at the bottom

consult with your RDA support team on whether to set up an Expression, Flat Amount, or Percentage for the exemption amount

-if this exemption is a Custom Amount for each billable, set the Expression Type dropdown to "Custom Exemption Expression". Then copy/paste this in the Expression box: [REVMGT][REV EXEMPTION][CUSTOM AMOUNT]

Then, set the Reduction Type to Charge Amount. Click Save at the top-right of the screen. See instructions below on how to assign the custom amount to each billable.


-if this exemption is a Percentage of charges or value, set the Expression Type dropdown to "Percentage of Taxable Value". Then set the Reduction Type to either Charge Amount or Taxable Amount. Then set the Percentage. Click Save at the top-right of the screen.


-if this exemption is a Flat Amount of charges, set the Expression Type dropdown to "Flat Amount".  Then set the Flat Amount. Click Save at the top-right of the screen.



go to the Accounting tab

consult with the Treasurer on which Accounting Setup ID to use

fill in the Accounting Setup ID

press Enter on your keyboard

wait a moment and you should see the Accounting Setup change

click Save at the top-right of the screen


if this Exemption is a Custom Amount:

go to the MV of the Billable that you would like to assign the Exemption

on the BMV, click the Exemptions tab

click Add

search for the new Exemption. Make sure you pick the Exemption that matches the billable's Class.

click Add

select the new Exemption record

right-click

Edit Exemption

if you would like to add this exemption (after you have already computed charges) for only Billing Period 1 or 2, and this is a Custom Amount, put the entire year's worth of the exemption (x2) as the Custom Amount. The QuickCompute-Supplement process will pick up half of the Custom Amount. During the QuickCompute-Supplement process, uncheck the Compute For All Billing Period box, then select Billing Period 1 or 2.


edit the Custom Amount

click Save
