Unemployment Reports


The purpose of this solution is to explain where information is pulled on different Unemployment reports. State specific unemployment reports can pull different types of data than the generic unemployment report which can cause different results. Example below of a comparison of the generic unemployment report with the Virginia State Unemployment report (VEC).  If you have questions on any other state unemployment report, please refer to the state specific solution or contact Customer Service.



Quarterly Unemployment Wage and Tax Report


  • HR → Payroll → Reports → Payroll Tax Reports → Unemployment Reports Quarterly Unemployment Wage and Tax Report
  • The information that is pulled on this report comes from the Personnel Calendar Summary which contains only earnings
  • If earnings are not subject to unemployment it's possible that this report will have different results than a report that pulls from Unemployment deductions


VEC Quarterly Tax Report


  • HR → Payroll → Other Virginia State Reports VEC Reports VEC Quarterly Tax
  • The information that is pulled on this report comes from the Deduction Calendar Summaries for Unemployment Deductions
  • The results of this report should match the VEC iFile unless the employee has a negative net where negative amounts are not allowed on the iFile or if there is an issue where the Job Deduction Summaries do not match the Deduction Summaries (less common)
  • Totals at the bottom display in this order:  Earnings, Excess, and Quarter Taxable

VEC iFile


  • HR → Payroll → Other Virginia State Reports VEC Reports VEC iFile
  • The information that is pulled on this report comes from the Job Deduction Calendar Summaries for Unemployment Deductions
  • The results of this file should match the VEC Quarterly Tax Report unless the employee has a negative net where negative amounts are not allowed on the iFile or there is an issue where the Job Deduction Summaries do not match the Deduction Summaries (less common)
