What This Process Does
- This process allows you to save a file to the location of your choice. The first section of this document explains how to set up your internet browser for downloading a file, and the second section shows you how to download the file.
Setting Up Your Browser
Step 1: Browser Taskbar
- Using the task bar, choose Tools and then Options (see screen shot below). NOTE: Depending on your internet browser, you may not have Tools -> Options. Instead, you may need to go to the Preferences icon (in the upper-right corner of your screen) -> Settings, and then scroll down to find "Always ask me where to save files" under the Downloads section.
Step 2: Taskbar Options
- Once in Options, select “Always ask me where to save files”.
Downloading the File
- The most common files that are downloaded are Direct Deposit ACH Files in Payroll, ACH Files in Vendor Payments, and reports that need to be exported.
- The steps below provide an example of how a Direct Deposit ACH File in Payroll is downloaded:
Step 1: ACH File Information
- Fill in the appropriate payroll information needed to create the Direct Deposit ACH File.
Step 2: View or Save pdf

Step 3: Set the Flags for the ACH File
- Set your flags to confirm that you wish to create the file for downloading; click the Set Flags/Update button.
Step 4: Open the File for Downloading
- In order to download a file in OpenRDA 4.0, open the file you want to download, and click the Download icon outlined in red below (Note: In the screen shot below, a different file was selected; always ensure you are selecting the applicable file).
Step 5: Click "Save File"
- The dialog below will automatically appear; click the “Save File” option, and then click “OK”.
Step 6: Choosing a Location
- Choose the location on your local workstation in which you would like to save the file (refer to screen shot below).
- Typically, users save files in their Downloads folder.
- Settings can be created to re-direct the default location to any folder/location of the user's choice.
